European Damp Home Survey inviting people to report damp and mould in their homes for research
Help European researchers understand how common damp and mould are in homes by taking part in an anonymous survey.

European researchers are inviting members of the public to help investigate how common damp and mould are in homes across Europe.

Damp and mould are important environmental health concerns, particularly for people living with asthma, allergies and other respiratory conditions. However, researchers still lack comprehensive information about how widespread these problems are across European households.

A citizen science survey, conducted under the auspices of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM) Excellence Centre network, aims to improve understanding of the situation.

The survey is open to people living in Europe and takes only a few minutes to complete.

About the survey

  • Participation is anonymous.
  • Responses will be used for research purposes only.
  • The questionnaire is available in English, Spanish, German, French and Italian.
  • Researchers are approaching 1,000 responses but would particularly welcome contributions from underrepresented countries.

Why participate?

Better information about damp and mould in European homes could help researchers understand patterns of exposure and inform future research into environmental and respiratory health.

You do not need to have aspergillosis or another respiratory condition to participate.

Take part in the European Damp Home Survey

Please consider sharing the survey with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours.

This is an independent European research survey being shared by the National Aspergillosis Centre to support participation. Completing the questionnaire does not diagnose mould-related illness or aspergillosis.
