How do I… soothe tickly coughs?

Tickly coughs can be a nuisance, especially when they get in the way of other day-to-day tasks. Often triggered by dust and pollution, they can result in sore throats and muscular pain in the chest or abdomen. Here are some tips to help you relieve some of the symptoms of a tickly cough.

Remember to: Drink lots of water to keep the fluid level of your body high – this keeps your throat moist, reducing the dry, tickly sensation.
Give your throat and vocal chords a rest by speaking gently and as little as possible.

Try: Adding 2 teaspoons of honey and a teaspoon of lemon juice to lukewarm water.
Sucking a small square of dark chocolate.
Cough syrups and lozenges specifically for dry and tickly coughs can be bought from pharmacies/drugstores.
