If you or a loved one is affected by aspergillosis, there are many ways to help raise awareness and contribute to research and education into this serious disease.
World Aspergillosis Day was launched in 2018 to coincide with the Advances Against Aspergillosis conference in Lisbon. We held a special patients meeting on 1st February with the theme of ‘Caring for Carers’, and set up a dedicated carers Facebook group where friends and family of patients can share support and advice.
The ਐਸਪਰਗਿਲੋਸਿਸ ਟਰੱਸਟ is an advocacy group led by the community of patients and carers, which aims to raise awareness of the condition. It is not a registered charity, but they carry out fundraising via the Fungal Infection Trust.
The Fungal Infection Trust is a registered charity that carries out fundraising and pays for research and education. It contributes to employing the communications team that runs this website as well as the following:
- Aspergillus & Aspergillosis – a comprehensive archive of everything there is to know about aspergillosis and the fungi that cause it, aimed mostly at scientists and clinicians
- LIFE Worldwide – educational resources about fungal infections aimed at clinicians around the world
- GAFFI – advocacy aimed at governments and health organisations, trying to get diagnostics and treatment to everyone who needs them
- Microfungi.net – a free online course for learning microscopy and histopathology for diagnosing fungal infections
