How do I… cope with shopping?

Shopping can be a difficult task if you suffer from aspergillosis. Here are some of our tips for making your shopping trips easier:

Where possible, shop online and save yourself the time and energy of going around the shops.

Invest in a Sholley (pictured above), so you don’t have to carry heavy bags around with you.

Try wearing a face mask or filter scarf, especially around Christmas – the spores from Christmas trees and wreaths and soot from candles can be bad for your lungs. See more about coping at Christmas here.

Ask the NAC for an aspergillosis wallet card that you can show to security guards or shop staff in case you need help, or in case they object to any of the things you need to do to stay well (e.g. wearing a mask).
