The UK charity MAARA accurately measure the number of fungal spores in the air at their research station in the East Midlands area of the UK – this is approximately the centre of England so should serve as a reasonable guide for airborne spores in the rest of England, but of course local conditions could markedly affect the counts in your area. For that reason we suggest you also take note of the general trends of airborne mould spores levels throughout the year so as to be aware of what to expect as the months go by in your area – spores should follow similar cycles throughout all of the UK though overall levels may change – see spore calendar below.
